Hiring at Emirates, Etihad to pick-up pace in November Several recruitment events planned

Emirates and Etihad, two UAE-based airlines, will continue to hire next month after holding several recruitment events in October.

Etihad Airways is currently hiring crew for their team based in Abu Dhabi. The airline is looking for cabin crew, inflight chefs and food and beverage managers.

Several recruitment events have been planned for the coming month.

Open days will be held in Bucharest on November 3; in Belgrade on November 5; in Prague on the 10th; in Budapest on the 12th; and in Yerevan and Algiers on the 18th of next month. By-invitation-only events will be held in London and Manchester on November 24 and 26, respectively.

Emirates, too, will be holding cabin crew assessment days. On November 6, it will be held in Hong Kong; on the 15th in Copenhagen and on the 25th in Manchester.

Emirates salaries

On the salary and benefits front, Emirates provides shared cabin crew accommodation with own bedroom.

Profit sharing schemes, exchange rate protection scheme, professional specialist allowances also make up a part of the package.

However, these benefits depend upon the role and/or applicant’s unique personal circumstance.

Transportation to and from the airport and other standard non-cash elements such as annual leave, leave tickets, end-of-service gratuity, medical and insurance form a part of the package.

On leaving the company, an employee is entitled to an end-of-service gratuity or provident scheme payment, whichever is higher.

Education support allowance is given to staff in more senior positions and eligible UAE National and GCC citizens are enrolled into their respective government pension scheme, with employee and company contributions payable.

Etihad salaries

Etihad Airlines also promises to offer a “fantastic tax-free salary which is competitive within the industry and reviewed on a regular basis.”

Besides this, free accommodation is provided in a modern shared fully-furnished apartment, with your own private facilities. “Everything is provided for to ensure that you have a safe, secure and comfortable home in Abu Dhabi,” mentions the airline.

Transportation from accommodation to the airport for flight duties is given and then to bring you back home again after your flight.

The cabin crew members have access to Etihad swimming pools, health clubs and fitness centres at no cost, and reduced rate massage, hairdressing and beauty treatments to keep you looking your best.

Leading airline travel benefits include unlimited personal travel at special rates, an annual leave ticket and generous concessions for family and friends to use. Free private medical insurance and life/accident insurance is also included.

You will also be entitled to an annual leave of 30 days besides the special discounts at restaurants, shops, hotels and leisure facilities across the UAE and the region.

A word to cabin crew wannabes

There is a limit to what I can do for you wannabes. I can be very experienced in interview matters but mind you, I can't make you grow by a few cm taller if you do not have the required height (gals min is 158cm and guys min is 165cm). I am no magician. Same goes for those who do not have, for example the required minimum educational qualifications. Other than those 2 things I've mentioned, I can help you get your dream job if you follow and apply what I tell you at my talks or in my E-Guide.

I do not need to brag because my method has been proven successful time and again. Look at the testimonies that keep pouring in after each interview. Not only am I able to equip you with the "know how" to breeze through the 5 tough rounds of interviews but I am able to motivate you to "believe in yourself" and by using the "visualisation" method plus my faith and yours combined, it is no wonder why so many of my students who previously failed many times finally succeeded.

You may say I am a man of faith and  applies and practises that biblical quote that says "if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.".......so what is there to argue, right?

I do not need to persuade you to attend  my talks because if you really want that dream job you know what to do.

Affordable fees for Luke's Talks for cabin crew wannabes.

A survey was carried out and majority of the wannabes prefer paying the lower fees of $50/$60 and do not mind having the Talks conducted at public places e.g. at Starbucks, Coffee Beans etc. Please refer to the polls table below.
In this respect, I've reduced the fees from $200 to $60 for this time. Please visit www.ourcabincrew.com  for more details.

Tips to a successful SIA Cabin Crew Interview by Luke Tan

Below are the 5 rounds or stages of the SIA cabin crew interview.

Round 1:

Self-introduction and a generic question.

The wannabes will be asked to enter a room in groups of 10. There are usually 2 interviewers.
Each candidate will be given 2 to 3 minutes to do the self-intro and answer a question. An example of the question may be like this: Which celebrity would you like to be and why? Notice it is an open ended question and so you must not forget the “why” part.

Round 2:
After passing the 1st round SIA will subject you to a skin check. They want to ensure you have a reasonable good skin. Remove the tattoo if you have one that is conspicuous. You will do the "reach" test unless you are conspicuously taller than the minimum height required by SIA.

Round 3:

Around 6 candidates will be selected and will be put into 2 groups. There will be an introduction of your partner to the panel of 2 interviewers. There may also be group discussions of topics given and the reading of selected passages by the individual candidate. The interview may take up to 40 minutes.

Round 4

If you get through the third round you would then face 2 interviewers in this round. This is like a chit chat session. Also they may ask you questions from what you've stated in your application form. You may be tested on "calmness" or "coolness" and "maturity". Do not react negatively even if the interviewers try to provoke you. Stay calm and smile.

The 5th round: The kebaya/skin check round.

Girls will be asked to wear the kebaya and walk a little distance so the interviewers could assess your poise and way of walking. For the men, they may be asked to walk. Then there will be a thorough skin check. They will look out for blemishes, visible scars, tattoos etc on your hands, face and legs etc.
This round may be conducted on the same day or another day.

Pointers for a successful interview.

Dress appropriately i.e. dressing should not be too casual. Guys should wear a long sleeve shirt with a tie. Pants should be black or any decent colour and neat. For the ladies, wear a nice matching blouse and skirt. Pant suits are fine. Do not wear sandals or jeans or any Denim materials.
Smile all the time, Look pleasant and friendly. Have eye contact with the interviewers.
Should display lots of teamwork and team spirit whenever you have the opportunity.
Must try to convey to the interviewers that you are a service oriented person.
Do some homework like practising your self-intro in front of the mirror or your close friends and ask for their comments and feedback.
Above all, believe in yourself that you will make it pass the interview and be an outstanding cabin crew.
